One Day Tom

The first post on AZGP.blogspot.com is the story of our last hunter Mike Coover and his April Lion. We have some great pictures and an awesome video of the hunt.

Getting Ready for the Shot

First Track of the Morning

Mike made the drive from Phoenix to Payson the night before hunt. He met up with Arizona Ground Pounders Outfitters early the first morning. On the way to where lions have been trailed earlier in the year Steel Armstrong saw the track of a Tom that had crossed the road while Cash was driving 15 MPH. After getting the dogs out of the truck the hunt was on . The dogs trailed the lion just under two miles when the Big Tom was treed. Mike made a great shot with his old open sight 30-30. The lion measured just under 7 ft and  green scored over 14 inches. The AZ Ground Pounders would like to thank Mike and Ryan for coming up and hunting for an eventful one day.
